{"id":13617,"date":"2022-06-16T19:19:58","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T19:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ethiopia\/all-news\/germany-pledges-to-support-ethiopias-peace-building-initiatives"},"modified":"2022-06-16T19:33:29","modified_gmt":"2022-06-16T19:33:29","slug":"germany-pledges-to-support-ethiopias-peace-building-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ethiopia\/all-news\/germany-pledges-to-support-ethiopias-peace-building-initiatives","title":{"rendered":"Germany Pledges to Support Ethiopia\u2019s Peace-building Initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expressed support for Ethiopia\u2019s peace building initiatives, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonen had a phone conversation today with the Foreign Minister of Germany.<\/p>\n<p>During the discussion Demeke appreciated the balanced position that the government of Germany has followed in the challenging times Ethiopia has been through for the last one and a half years, which commensurate with the longstanding relationship between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>He also briefed the German Foreign Minister about the encouraging measures that the government of Ethiopia has been undertaking to cope with the challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The Ethiopian government has traveled the extra mile to end the conflict with the TPLF peacefully, mentioning the release of political prisoners from detention, the establishment of the National Dialogue Commission, and support given to the peace initiatives of the AU headed by Olusegun Obasanjo, he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Demeke added that humanitarian supply to conflict-affected regions is accelerated, demonstrating the Ethiopian government\u2019s adherence to building trust and ensuring durable peace in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock appreciated on her part that the steps taken by the Ethiopian government to scale up access to humanitarian supply, ensure accountability for abuses during the conflict and hold an all-inclusive dialogue to address critical questions in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Baerbock pledged that the government of Germany would strengthen its development partnership with Ethiopia and support peace-building, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts of the Ethiopian Government.<\/p>\n<p>Germany would play a positive role in normalizing the relationship between Ethiopia and the European Union, she said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ethiopia\">Ethiopia<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Ethiopia.
