{"id":1613,"date":"2021-01-11T18:07:15","date_gmt":"2021-01-11T18:07:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/ethiopia\/?p=1613"},"modified":"2021-01-11T17:48:27","modified_gmt":"2021-01-11T17:48:27","slug":"junta-military-leaders-killed-senior-civilian-leaders-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ethiopia\/all-news\/junta-military-leaders-killed-senior-civilian-leaders-arrested","title":{"rendered":"Junta Military Leaders Killed, Senior Civilian Leaders Arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/ethiopia\">Ethiopia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Addis Ababa January 11\/2020 (ENA) Senior junta military leaders that had attacked the national defense force with a view to dismember the country have been killed, according to Ethiopian National Defense Force.<\/p>\n<p>National Defense Force Deployment Head, Brigadier General Tesfaye Ayalew told ENA that action was taken against the treasonous generals, high ranking officers, line officers and their bodyguards who had defected from the army and fought along with the junta.<\/p>\n<p>The head added that the joint forces of the Defense Force, Federal Police and National Intelligence and Security have intensified the operation to track down the deserters.<\/p>\n<p>Brigadier General Tesfaye Ayalew disclosed that seven junta civilian leaders, including the former chief administrator and deputy chief administrator as well as senior officers who defected to the junta have also been arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly, action was taken on the following.<\/p>\n<p>1. Major-General Ibrahim Abduljelil \u2014 Former National Defense Force Logistics Head and later Logistics Head of the junta.<\/p>\n<p>2. Brigadier-General Gebrekidan Gebremariam \u2014 Retired National Defense Force Indoctrination Head who joined the junta after retirement.<\/p>\n<p>3. Ten senior officers.<\/p>\n<p>4. Two line officers.<\/p>\n<p>5. A former deputy regional commissioner who defected from the police and joined the junta.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the following prominent leaders of the junta have been arrested.<\/p>\n<p>1. Abay Woldu \u2014 Former Chief Administrator of Tigray<\/p>\n<p>2. Dr. Abraham Tekeste \u2014 Former Deputy Chief Administrator of the region<\/p>\n<p>3. Dr. Redai Berhe \u2014 Regional Audit Office Head<\/p>\n<p>4. Dr. Mulugeta Yirga \u2014 Former Head of Regional Statistics Agency<\/p>\n<p>5. Okubay Berhe \u2014 Former Head of Religious Affairs<\/p>\n<p>6. Getachew Teferi \u2014 Former Chief Administrator\u2019s Office, Peace and Security Head<\/p>\n<p>7.
