Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>December 27\/2022 Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tassew revealed that the airlines will resume its regular passenger flight to Mekelle tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Briefing journalists today, Mesfin said that the resumption of the flights to Mekelle, will have significant contribution to the entire peace process and enhancing the people-to-people connection and trust.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe resumption of this flight will enable families to unite. It will also facilitate transportation of very essential goods like medicines and relief goods. It will play its own part to facilitate the peace process,\u201dMesifn noted.<\/p>\n

It will also bring a lot of socio-economic benefits to the people of Tigray, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday we are pleased to announce that this flight to Mekelle will resume starting tomorrow. We will start with one flight per day but very soon and gradually it will increase to higher number of flights per day,\u201d he elaborated.<\/p>\n

We are very pleased that we have taken this initiative at this early stage to contribute our own share towards the peace making process and assisting the relief process as well as easing the economic problems in the region, the CEO pointed out.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out that efforts have also been intensified to resume flights to other airports in Tigray region.<\/p>\n

A team comprised from the Ethiopian civil aviation and the airlines have inspected yesterday that the Alula aba nega airport is ready.<\/p>\n

Ethiopian Airlines CEO and his team were amongst the delegation of government officials who traveled to Mekelle led by House of Peoples\u2019 Representative Speaker Tagese Chafo to discuss implementation of the peace agreement.<\/p>\n

The delegation held discussion with senior leaders of TPLF and residents of Mekelle city on Monday.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival at Alula Aba Nega Airport, in Mekelle, the delegation, which is composed of ministers, heads of service providing institutions, commissioners of National Dialogue, has received a warm welcome.<\/p>\n

During the occasion, Speaker of the House Tagesse Chafo said the aim of the delegation is to consolidate the peace efforts and share ideas and feelings of each other.<\/p>\n
