Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The 36th African Union Summit has kicked off today in Addis Ababa in the presence of several heads of state and government of members states.<\/p>\n

The 36th ordinary Session of the AU Assembly will deliberate on various continental issues focusing under the theme, \u201cAccelerating AfCFTA Implementation\u201d over the coming two days.<\/p>\n

The leaders will discuss on various continental issues including combating climate change, overcoming food security challenges and ways of accelerating the implementation of the AfCFTA.<\/p>\n

They are also expected to adopt a series of protocols aimed at accelerating full implementation of Africa\u2019s new free trade area.<\/p>\n

AU Peace and Security Commission is also expected to present proposal for new financing of security operations.<\/p>\n

In addition to leaders from AU members states, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and heads of other international organizations are also participating at the summit.<\/p>\n
