Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The good lesson Ethiopia has given us (Africans) is the significance of holding discussions and finding lasting solutions to our problems, instead of fighting, Comoros Ambassador Assoumani said.<\/p>\n

In regard, the commitment of the Government of Ethiopia in implementing the Pretoria Peace Agreement to bring about lasting peace and stability in the country is commendable, he added.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with ENA, Comoros Ambassador to Ethiopia Youssouf Mondoha Assoumani stressed the need for seeking African solutions to African problems by citing as an example the Pretoria Peace Agreement signed between the Ethiopian government and the TPLF.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and all the Ethiopian leaders as well as the mediation of the African Union and the entire team, they were able to find solutions to the problems,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

The ambassador also said these are things that African leaders should encourage and learn from Ethiopia, when we have problems, we should adopt this experience and try to seek African solutions to African problems.<\/p>\n

Noting steps stooping to find a global solution he said, adding \u201cEthiopia has given us a good lesson that even if we are fighting we can sit on a table, discuss and find a lasting solution.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ambassador pointed out that the peace and stability of Ethiopia is very important not only for the country but also for the stability of the region.<\/p>\n

According to him, the relationship between Comoros and Ethiopia is very good and would benefit the countries if strengthened.<\/p>\n

It is important to formalize bilateral cooperation by signing an agreement for the establishment of a joint commission.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is within this framework that the two parties will be able to discuss the main areas of cooperation. Both countries have much to gain by exploring this partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ambassador Assoumani revealed that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen is expected to visit Comoros to revitalize the bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n

As the current chairperson of AU, President Azali has identified a number of priorities during his tenure, he stated.<\/p>\n

In addition to peace and security of Africa, without which sustainable development cannot be achieved, there is the problem of climate change that often affects many countries, including island states like Comoros.<\/p>\n

Solving all these problems without a real economic integration between AU member states is not possible, he noted, adding that there is therefore the need to accelerate the implementation of the Free Trade Area of Africa.<\/p>\n
