Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Ethiopia has a lot of practical experience to share in terms of peace-making, preventive diplomacy, mediation and regional integration, Spokesperson for the IGAD Executive Secretary, Nuur Mohamud Sheekh said.<\/p>\n

In exclusive interview , IGAD’s Spokesperson said that Ethiopia has always played an important role in regional economic integration, industrialization, food security, and of course advancing the cause of peace in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cEthiopia\u2019s role in regional multilateral diplomacy like the African Union and IGAD has been very effective,\u201d he elaborated.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the spokesperson indicated that there is no doubt that the Government of Ethiopia and its leadership is very committed to consolidating peace in the country and beyond.<\/p>\n

He added that the Pretoria peace agreement and the National Dialogue are clear evidence of the government\u2019s commitment to fostering inclusiveness and prioritizing dialogue as the best option for addressing national issues.<\/p>\n

Nuur Mohamud added: \u201cthe success of the Ethiopia peace process is indeed an important lesson for peace-making globally. A nationally-led and Ethiopian owned peace process is inclusive, leading to an outcome that has a wide support; and sustainable and durable peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Noting IGAD has been part of the Ethiopia peace process from the beginning he said, adding \u201cour Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu has provided his good offices at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Executive Secretary role was appreciated and acknowledged by both the Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF leadership and the African Union and the United Nations, he elaborated.<\/p>\n

Recall Ethiopia honored and recognized those who have played pivotal to the process of Pretoria peace agreement under the theme \u201cEnough with War; Let Us Sustain Peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

IGAD Executive Secretary was among the dignitaries recognized by the government of Ethiopia for their contribution to the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.<\/p>\n
