Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The Government Communication Service Ministry called on media in Ethiopia to work more focusing on big national agendas and on ways that help tap into Ethiopia\u2019s great economic potential.<\/p>\n

Government Communication Services Minister Legese Tulu and State Minister Selamawit Kassa as well as leaders of media organizations and personnel visited the today the Agriculture and Science exhibition at Science Museum in Addis Ababa organized under the theme “From the lab to the field.”<\/p>\n

Government Communication Service State Minister Selamawit Kassa on the occasion said media in Ethiopia must work centering on big national agendas and on ways that help tapping into Ethiopia\u2019s great potentials.<\/p>\n

According to her, tapping into the country\u2019s immense potentials requires applying studies and innovations into practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cRealizing research results into practice first requires information flow. In this regard, media plays big role and a huge task is waiting for the media to inform the public. That is why this visit is crucial,\u201d Selamawit said, adding that the media should also introduce innovative youth to stakeholders.<\/p>\n

She also stressed the need for the media in Ethiopia to work centering on big national agendas that could benefit the people, mentioning the Green Legacy and Yelemat Tirufat, a development campaign that focuses on nutritional opulence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe media should focus on big national agendas to tap into the untapped potential and benefit the people,\u201d Selamawit said.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia has, for instance, untapped potential in the agriculture, which needs implementing researches and innovations into practice, she said pointing out that media should play key role to realize this.<\/p>\n

The state minister called on media organizations in Ethiopia to play their key role focusing on the big national issues.<\/p>\n

The media have to ask why we are not benefiting from the immense potential resources and on how to utilize them effectively, she said.<\/p>\n

This all is the way the media can bring concrete results in addition to creating awareness and mobilizing, she added.<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister Girma Amente on the occasion explained to the visitors the successful works being carried out under the ministry to transform the agriculture sector using different initiatives and technologies.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with Ethio Telecom, aims at promoting the role of technologies in transforming the agricultural sector and improving production and productivity in a sustainable manner.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is expected to create awareness among farmers and pastoralists, youth, students researchers as well as investors on the role of science and technology to improve production and productivity and realize sustainable development.<\/p>\n
