Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, conferred with Catherine Russel, Executive Director of UNICEF, and Martin Griffiths, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency.<\/p>\n

On the margins of the UNGA78 in New York, Demeke briefed Russell and Griffiths about the ongoing development in the country, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

He said Ethiopia has a firm commitment to implementing the Pretoria Peace Agreement and accelerating post-conflict recovery and reconstruction measures.<\/p>\n

The deputy prime minister and foreign minister also praised UNICEF for its support of Ethiopian children in the education and health sectors.<\/p>\n

Martin Griffiths also told Demeke that it is important to continue and revamp suspended humanitarian support in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

Both UN agency heads expressed the desire of both institutions to continue cooperating in post-conflict peacebuilding.<\/p>\n
