Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The newly appointed ambassadors of USA, Canada and Rwanda have pledged to further strengthen bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and their respective countries.<\/p>\n

President Sahlework Zewde has received credential letters of the newly appointed ambassadors of 12 countries at the National Palace on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The ambassadors of USA, Canada, Finland, Luxemburg, Nicaragua, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Rwanda, Libya, Somalia, Mozambique and Lesotho have presented their credentials to the president.<\/p>\n

President Sahlework Receives Credentials of Newly Appointed Ambassadors to Ethiopia<\/p>\n

During the occasion, the ambassadors of USA, Canada, and Rwanda said that they will work to further strengthen their bilateral relationship with Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

USA Ambassador to Ethiopia Ervin Jose Massinga told ENA that having presented credentials today, \u201cI’m very excited to meet as many officials and Ethiopians.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that he has a very aggressive schedule traveling around the country in the coming weeks to know Ethiopia and the leaders of its institutions, businesses and non-governmental organisations to be able to determine the best course of action.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was sent by the President and secretary of the state to strengthen relations between our two countries. And that’s exactly what I intend to do. No matter what the challenges and the difficulties, I think working together, we can make great strides and I know that we can,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Regarding to rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts of the government of Ethiopia in northern part of the country he said, we know that the needs in many aspects are urgent and crucial.<\/p>\n

“We know in Washington and my team here knows that it is important for us to determine the best way forward and that’s exactly what I’m going to do in the coming weeks and months.”<\/p>\n

Ambassador of Canada to Ethiopia Joshua Tabah on his part said the future areas of cooperation will be reinforcing gender equality in Ethiopia and ensuring equal voice and right for everyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cCanada and Ethiopia have a rich bilateral relationship with strong international cooperation and solidarity. Madam President and I discussed the importance of ensuring gender equality, and the equal rights and participation of all women across the country. We talked about strengthening people to people ties to foster increased exchanges between our two countries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Increasing commercial opportunities for Canadian companies here in Ethiopia and movement back and forth is crucial so that the people in both countries can enjoy wonderful beauty and culture of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

Rwanda\u2019s new ambassador to Ethiopia, Charles Karamba on his part said Ethiopia and Rwanda have been cooperating in multilateral aspect in very many areas.<\/p>\n

Rwanda is an important players in the international peacekeeping support operations much as Ethiopia is and we meet in different sectors and so there is a need to cooperate.<\/p>\n

\u201cI brought a message of His Excellency Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, regarding our historical relationship and the need to enhance that relationship in so many sectors, in the sectors of trade and investment, defense and security, innovation and technology,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

There is also the aspect of African Union and global aspect where the two countries need to work together, he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, Ethiopia and Rwanda can be major players as far as getting closer African brothers to be able to have a common stand on different aspects that affect the region.<\/p>\n
