Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The government of Ethiopia has provided emergency humanitarian assistance to 7.3 million people affected by drought and conflict in two rounds, according to Government Communication Service(GCS).<\/p>\n

In a press briefing today, State Minister of Government Communication Service Selamawit Kassa said efforts have been intensifying to support emergency assistance to those who need urgent help.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, the government has provided emergency humanitarian assistance to 7.3 million people affected by drought and conflict.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom July to October, 798,607 quintals of food items were distributed in two rounds to people in need. Also, about 1.4 billion birr has been provided as financial support to members of the society who are in need of support,\u201d she indicated.<\/p>\n

About 3.6 million members of the public have received the financial support to meet their needs in the local markets, she added.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the current situation in the Amhara region, Selamawit stated that, the new leadership of the region is extending administrative units to the lowest level and various public discussions are being held to respond to questions raised by the society as well as to bring lasting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n

On other hand, Selamawit elaborated that this year\u2019s National Flag Day will be celebrated under the theme \u201cThe Prestige of Our Flag: A Guarantee for Unity and Sovereignty\u201d on Monday across the nation.<\/p>\n

The day will be celebrated at federal government institutions, regions and city administrations, as well as defense forces camps and Ethiopian embassies and missions abroad at the same time, at 10:30 in the morning.<\/p>\n
