Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The multifaceted participation of all citizens in Ethiopia should be strengthened in order to successfully realize the ongoing nation-state building process, Peace Minister Binalf Andualem stressed.<\/p>\n

The minister made the remark today at a forum organized by the Ministry of Peace in collaboration with the Ethiopian News Agency in Addis Ababa under the theme \u201cFundamentals of Nation Building.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peace Minister Binalf Andualem, State Minister of Peace Taye Dendea, Ethiopian News Agency CEO, Seife Derbe and other invited guests were in attendance.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the occasion, Binalf elaborated that nation-state building process requires collective and support of all citizens.<\/p>\n

“It should be the responsibility of all of us to strengthen national unity as the work of nation-state building will not be completed at once,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the minister emphasized that in order to achieve nation-state building, it is necessary to build a common identity, ensure national interests and focus on national values.<\/p>\n

Noting the failure to deal properly with diversity in the nation-state building process as a challenge he said, stressing the need to create common understanding on basic national issues.<\/p>\n

It is also necessary to change the Ethiopian political culture that has lasted for centuries marred with conspiracies by building a strong democratic culture that involves everyone, he underscored.<\/p>\n

Thus, Binalf underlined that the participation and cooperation of all citizens is a prerequisite to build a prosperous Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

The basic issues on nation building, national identity and values for nation building, national interests and other national issues are being discussed at the forum.<\/p>\n

State Minister of Peace, Taye Dendea stressed in his study paper presented at the discussion forum under the title \u2018Elements of State Nation Building\u2019 that Sate Nation Building is foundation for all basic interests.<\/p>\n

Indicating that state nation building is an act of strengthening the relations of people and their shared vision, Taye stressed the need to establish common understanding on shared issues in order to successfully build a strong nation.<\/p>\n

A paper presented by a social anthropology researcher at the Addis Ababa University, Dr. Keyredin Tezera, has also indicated the importance of national values to understand the true national identity and give attention to vital common issues which are instrumental to state nation building efforts.<\/p>\n
