Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Military attaches based in Addis Ababa have visited the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) to learn more about its benefits for the region.<\/p>\n

The Attache\u0301s described the GERD as a key development instrument and symbol of national pride that provides multifaceted benefits not only for Ethiopia but for the entire region.<\/p>\n

Military attaches and representatives of international organizations based in Addis Ababa have visited GERD to learn more about its benefits for the region.<\/p>\n

Military attaches praise the Dam as a symbol of regional integration.<\/p>\n

Brigadier General Abdelmajed Anas Omer, Sudanese Military Attache\u0301, said the GERD is a pride for Africa and will strengthen neighborliness among nations across the region by providing electric light to countries including Sudan.<\/p>\n

South Sudanese Deputy Military Attache\u0301, Lieutenant colonel Opul Cham Ojulu on his part said, his country is one of the beneficiaries of the GERD.<\/p>\n

He noted that the water is flowing properly to downstream countries, which shows that the dam will not harm any country.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Attache\u0301 also said that the dam will play a significant role in facilitating the economic development of Ethiopia and other neighboring countries.<\/p>\n

Lt. Col. Daniel Mike Juliet, Canada’s Military Representative to AU and Defense Attache to Ethiopia, Djibouti and South Sudan, said it is encouraging that the dam generates renewable energy.<\/p>\n

He mentioning Canada’s extensive experience in renewable energy development, he commended Ethiopia’s encouraging job in managing its water resources.<\/p>\n

Air Commodore Mackenzie Manfred, Military Attache\u0301 of Namibia, said that Ethiopians are using their own money to build a big project for the next generation, which will relieve poverty and accelerate the economic integration of other countries in the region.<\/p>\n

Colonel Marco Podi, Italy’s military attache\u0301, indicated that the GERD is a great and amazing project that will strengthen the relationship between the two countries and is a permanent manifestation of their cooperation.<\/p>\n
