Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The opening of headquarters of Global Black History, Heritage and Education Centre (GBHHEC) in Addis Ababa is a demonstration of Ethiopia’s diplomatic success and recognition of the country\u2019s vibrant history in Pan-African movements, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Meles Alem said.<\/p>\n

In his biweekly press briefing to local and foreign journalists today, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Meles Alem disclosed that the Center will inaugurate its headquarters in Addis Ababa in the first week of December.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson explained that extensive diplomatic work has been carried out to make the headquarter of the center in Addis Ababa. He pointed out that this is a demonstration of Ethiopia’s diplomatic success.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia is the origin of humankind and ancient civilization, he said stating that the country is the founder and champion of Pan-African movement that still exerts efforts on strengthening and consolidating the Pan-African interests.<\/p>\n

\u201cEthiopia was a member of various international organizations. The country has a founding role in various international organizations such as the UN, International Postal Union, and OAU etc. The interest of GBHHEC to open its headquarter in Addis Ababa stems from the belief that Ethiopia played an important role in raising the voice of the black people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The center’s move to open HQ in Addis Ababa is also a recognition for the country\u2019s vibrant history in Pan-African movements, ambassador Meles added.<\/p>\n

It is a great opportunity to have the center in Addis Ababa to further boost Ethiopia\u2019s standing in the tourism sector too.<\/p>\n

GBHHEC has also a plan to build a huge museum supported with digital technologies in Addis Ababa. The museum is expected to depict the history and heritages of black Africans.<\/p>\n

It is to be recalled that Global Black History, Heritage, and Education Center delegation paid a 10-day working visit to Ethiopia last April and met with high-level government officials.<\/p>\n

The center is devoted to restoring, reclaiming, preserving, conserving, rediscovering and accurately documenting Africa\u2019s true history and heritage. This will include manuscripts, artifacts, ruins, achievements, inventions, and ideologies.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Meles Alem said apart from diplomatic significance, the center has great social and economic significance.<\/p>\n

It was stated that representatives of the world’s black people, intellectuals and institutions will be present on the day of its inauguration.<\/p>\n

The center will also culturally bridge African nations among themselves and bind them to the wider African Diaspora ensuring that Africans wherever they live, are educated about the truth of their history and heritage.<\/p>\n

On other issues of foreign affairs, the Spokesperson said Ethiopia reaffirms its commitment to the peace and stability of the brotherly people of Sudan and will provide the necessary support to the people of Sudan to come out from the current problem.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan have discussed on common current issues on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He noted that Ethiopia believes that the problem in Sudan will be solved by Sudanese.<\/p>\n

In similar vein, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed attended the inaugural Saudi-Africa Summit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and on the sidelines of the Saudi-African Summit, he has held fruitful discussion with African leaders on various issues of common interest.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrime Minister Abiy’s participation in the Saudi Africa Summit should be considered as a week where Ethiopia has shown its influence on the world stage, where extensive consultations were held with the Saudis on common areas of cooperation, and where we used the platform to talk with the leaders of various countries,\u201d Meles said.<\/p>\n

According to the Spokesperson, the discussions between the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, and the World Bank\u2019s Regional Director, Ousmane Dione, as well as Tanzania’s Foreign Minister, January Makamba helped Ethiopia advance its interests.<\/p>\n

In the coming week, starting from November 21, 2023 more than 20 notable French companies will conduct a pre-investment visit to Ethiopia with a view to engage in various investment areas.<\/p>\n
