Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) on its 9th regular meeting today has approved the nomination of Melatework Hailu as the Chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

It is to be recalled that Birtukan Mideksa, who was the chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia, resigned from her position voluntary in June 2023.<\/p>\n

The house approved the appointment of the new chairperson by a majority vote with one abstention.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, Melatework Hailu appeared before the House and sworn in to carry out her responsibilities with loyalty and dedication.<\/p>\n

Melatwork was previously served as the head of the office of the Ethiopian Election Board.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the House has also approved the appointment of CEOs for the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation and Ethiopian Press Agency, Getnet Tadesse and Mesafint Tefera respectively.<\/p>\n
