Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Absa Bank Seychelles yesterday handed over a cheque worth R35,000 to the Seychelles Stroke Foundation<\/p>\n

The money was won by the bank\u2019s choir in last year\u2019s Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) Office Choir competition when they secured two awards, namely second place for jury\u2019s pick earning a prize of R20,000 and second place for people\u2019s choice award adding another R15,000 to their accolades.<\/p>\n

The handing over ceremony in the Aldabra boardroom at the Capital City building was in the presence of the bank\u2019s managing director Nazim Mahmood who presented the cheque to the treasurer of the Seychelles Stroke Foundation, Lysette Sullivan.<\/p>\n

Also present were six members of the Absa Seychelles choir.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for bringing awareness about strokes and thank you to the choir for winning this money,\u201d said Mr Mahmood, adding that the Absa Bank Seychelles\u2019 team was delighted to have won and donated to a good cause.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the association, Mrs Sullivan thanked Absa for choosing them and their cause, vowing the money will be put to good use.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to the magnificent team that performs amazingly every year and may God bless you,\u201d said Mrs Sullivan.<\/p>\n

In an Interview with Seychelles NATION, Mrs Sullivan explained that the money will be used to fund their activities throughout the year, including the new project titled \u2018Happy Days\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe project is about giving stroke patients somewhere to meet, socialise and spend time with each other,\u201d shared Mrs Sullivan.<\/p>\n

She took the opportunity to call on other organisations to come forward and support them financially as this is a big project.<\/p>\n
