Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Minister Abiy\u2019s visit to Kenya and Tanzania was pivotal to strengthen Ethiopia\u2019s energy and aviation diplomacy, Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ambassador Meles Alem said.<\/p>\n

Briefing journalists today, Ambassador Meles stated that the visit was pivotal for Ethiopia to advance its interests in energy and aviation sectors.<\/p>\n

The premier\u2019s visit enabled Ethiopia to bolster its relations with Kenya and Tanzania on range of areas including energy, which the country has immense potential.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed\u2019s visit to Kenya was very fruitful, manifesting Ethiopia’s reiteration for regional cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests, he added.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia gains about 100 million annually by providing energy to Kenya, the Spokesperson stated, and pointed out that the recent visit of the premier was of paramount importance in further strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Ambassador Meles emphasized that the leaders\u2019 discussion on mutual benefits and cooperation between the two countries is instrumental in fostering people to people relationship.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Premier Abiys visit to Tanzania was fruitful where cooperation agreements in the fields of agriculture, energy, and aviation were signed, according to the spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia has signed an agreement to provide 400 KVs of energy to Tanzania, he stated, and noted that Ethiopia\u2019s energy supply will not be limited to this amount, rather the country aspires to provide up to 2000 MWs of energy to countries in the southern part of Africa.<\/p>\n

Over the past years, Ethiopia has trained Tanzanian pilots and ground technicians thereby enhancing the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, he stated, and added that Tanzania is desirous to strengthen its cooperation with Ethiopia in the aviation sector.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the spokesperson underscored that the 128th anniversary of the Victory of Adwa, Ethiopia\u2019s participation at the WTO\u2019s 13th Ministerial Conference in UAE, and Ethiopia\u2019s showcase of products at the Doha International Horticultural Expo were amongst the major diplomatic achievements last week.<\/p>\n
