Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>The Executive Director of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the Arada area of Addis Ababa, Sheikh Saleh Hassan Ibrahim, has urged Muslims to maintain peace and participate in development works.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with the Ethiopian News Agency, he said “Muslims have a great responsibility to maintain peace in the country, and this is not an easy job.”<\/p>\n

Sheikh Saleh noted that Muslims have been working hard to maintain peace, help others, cooperate, and feed the hungry during the month of Ramadan.<\/p>\n

However, “this is not a day’s work, but rather a lifestyle,” he stressed.<\/p>\n

According to him, the Muslim community has a great responsibility at this point in time since there is a lot of development work that must be done with the larger community.<\/p>\n

Like every Ethiopian, Muslims have “to provide funds, build bridges, and participate in developing the economy and maintaining peace.”<\/p>\n

Pointing out that Islam means peace, love and unity, Sheikh Saleh further stressed the necessity of maintaining peace because it is the basis of any human activity.<\/p>\n

“We must call for peace in our country, and as regional leaders we must provide advice in places of worship as well as in families because it is the basis of any human activity. We must be peaceful ourselves, know peace, and participate in development work.”<\/p>\n

He elaborated that religion is a personal freedom and joining hands in development works a public duty.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Saleh was among the thousands of worshipers who participated in Eid al-Fitr prayers at Addis Ababa Stadium this morning.<\/p>\n
