Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amenti urged financial institutions in Ethiopia to further enhance their financial provision for farmers to bring about agricultural transformation in the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the agricultural and financial service seminar held today, the Minister said financial services for agriculture sector and rural development in Ethiopia is one of the critical enablers in transforming Ethiopian food system.<\/p>\n

He added that access to credit for our farmers and pastoralists, especially for the small holders farmers is pivotal including risk insurance.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the minister underscored the need to enhance synergy between financial institutions, insurance providers, and agricultural community to help farmers access to fertilizers, improved seeds and other agricultural inputs.<\/p>\n

Girma expressed his heartfelt gratitude to partners, policymakers, financial institutions to discuss on the matter and put the way forward for better future.<\/p>\n

Representatives of financial institutions including commercial banks and micro financial institutions are participating at the seminar.<\/p>\n

The objective of the seminar is to exchange views and discuss ways on how financial institutions collaborate with farmers in their efforts to enhance productivity and income.<\/p>\n
