The state minister said Ethiopia is taking significant strides toward combating climate change through various mechanisms.<\/p>\n

He told ENA that these initiatives are crucial in the nation’s journey to establish a green economy.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia is adopting multifaceted approach to enhance its resilience to climate change, he added, emphasizing that urban corridor development projects aim to create cleaner and greener environments in cities that play pivotal role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly from transportation.<\/p>\n

Key components of this initiative include the incorporation of indigenous plants, parks, and recreational areas within urban corridors; and these elements not only beautify cities but also contribute significantly to lowering emissions, he pointed out; underscoring the introduction of electric vehicles as part of the Green Legacy Initiative aligns with Ethiopia’s strategy to foster sustainable transportation options.<\/p>\n

The state minister explained that the government of Ethiopia is further solidifying its commitment to green development by allocating one percent of its annual budget to the Green Legacy initiative and this investment underscores the nation’s dedication to leading by example in the fight against climate change.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia plans to achieve a remarkable 68.8 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over the next ten years with devising various policies, strategies, and practical measures as well as implementing modern agricultural practices to mitigate emissions from farming and livestock.<\/p>\n

Hence, through these comprehensive efforts, Ethiopia is positioning itself as a leader in climate change prevention, the state minister underscored.<\/p>\n
