Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Addis Ababa, September 5, 2025 (POA) — The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) has become a powerful symbol of national unity and a driver of a new work culture in Ethiopia, according to Kassahun Follo, president of the Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU).<\/p>\n

This project, which was largely funded by citizens’ contributions, is seen as a source of national pride and a testament to what can be achieved through collective effort and self-reliance, he added.<\/p>\n

In an interview with ENA, the president underscored that the Dam was built through the multifaceted contributions of all Ethiopians, stressing that workers played a particularly vital role by providing not only financial support but also their expertise and labor.<\/p>\n

Kassahun further noted that it stands as a victory earned through tireless effort, serving as a powerful symbol of unity and possibility.<\/p>\n

He adding that this collective achievement demonstrates the great results a nation can attain when united for a common cause, inspiring confidence in the success of future large-scale projects and national development.<\/p>\n

According to the CETU\u2019s president, this milestone has reshaped Ethiopia’s work culture, with the Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions playing a vital role in coordinating the efforts of the country’s workers.<\/p>\n

Getahun Hussein, President of the Ethiopian Employers\u2019 Confederation, emphasized that GERD is a great example of how desired goals can be achieved through cooperation.<\/p>\n

He noted that the project, built through the partnership of the government and the people, will supply the power needed for industries while also equipping Ethiopia with valuable experience for future mega-projects.<\/p>\n

Both presidents underscored that the GERD is a national project cherished by all Ethiopians “like the apple of our eye.”<\/p>\n

They reaffirmed their readiness to continue coordinating workers and employers to support upcoming development projects.<\/p>\n

The presidents further stressed that mega-projects require strong collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the wider community, adding that employers are committed to contributing to Ethiopia\u2019s future growth and transformation.<\/p>\n
