Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Djibouti’s ruling political coalition, Union for the Presidential Majority (UMP), campaign director, Abdallah Abdillahi Miguil, has expressed confidence that the national election on Friday, April 10, 2026, will be conducted peacefully and transparently.<\/p>\n

The campaign director made the remark as the presidential campaign drew to a close today.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder our laws, the two-week campaign provided a platform for expression,\u201d Miguil said, adding that the time frame has enabled candidates to rally citizens around their visions and programs.<\/p>\n

He noted that President Guelleh, seeking re-election, held numerous rallies and public meetings to present his agenda.<\/p>\n

Miguil also noted that the campaign period saw broad participation from across the political spectrum \u2014 the ruling coalition, the CDU, and the UDJ that will all take part in the vote. According to him, their participation in the process is a sign of Djibouti\u2019s vibrant democratic debate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout the campaign, we observed exchanges of ideas and competing approaches without incivility, tension, or violence,\u201d the campaign director said.<\/p>\n

Miguil believes that \u201cthis demonstrates the Djiboutian people\u2019s commitment to tolerance and fair competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

The campaign director commended international partners for their attention and support, which reinforces the credibility of national democratic processes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no doubt the vote that concludes this campaign will take place in calm, peace, and full transparency, conferring upon its winner the legality and political legitimacy to govern and to guide our nation\u2019s shared destiny,\u201d he elaborated.<\/p>\n

\u201cTomorrow, the people will decide \u2014 and they will do so in peace. Together we campaigned, together we will build the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
