Africa-Press<\/a> – Ethiopia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>s Ababa October 7\/2014 \/ENA\/ China, Russia and India welcomed the formation of a new government in Ethiopia led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.<\/p>\n

Briefing on Ethiopia at UNSC yesterday the representatives of the countries have expressed their country\u2019s commitment to support the efforts of Ethiopian government to bring unity among all Ethiopians.<\/p>\n

Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UNSC, Anna Evstigneeva congratulated all Ethiopians on the formation of a new government on 4 October.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe electoral process is complete; it demonstrated that Ethiopian political forces were ready for an internal dialogue aimed at resolving the problems that the entire population of the country is faced with \u2013 in the interests of development, peace and prosperity,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

Evstigneeva reiterated that Russia will continue supporting the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of friendly Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Ambassador T.S. Tirumurti on his part said \u201cwe welcome the formation of a new government in Ethiopia led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on 4 October and his announcement of an inclusive national dialogue.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge all sides to exercise restraint and support the call by the government of Ethiopian for opening channels of communication to build trust among themselves,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He said \u201cWe also welcome the voice of support to the Ethiopian Government by the African leaders who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on 4 October.\u201d<\/p>\n

The work must begin on the restoration of normalcy in the lives of the people in the affected regions, he underscored.<\/p>\n

Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, Zhang Jun said on his part china welcomed the formation of a new government in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

\u201cChina supports the Ethiopian Government in making continued efforts to achieve unity among all Ethiopians, promote political dialogue, and work collectively to safeguard national unity and build a brighter future for the country,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

He urged that the international community should continue to provide assistance to Ethiopia, while respecting the country\u2019s sovereignty and ownership.<\/p>\n
