Africa-Press – Gabon. <\/strong><\/span>Livrant son classement annuel dans le cadre de la ce\u0301le\u0301bration, ce vendredi 3 mai, de la Journe\u0301e mondiale de la liberte\u0301 de la presse, Reporter sans frontie\u0300res (RSF) accuse la Haute autorite\u0301 de la communication (Hac) de freiner l\u2019ave\u0300nement d\u2019une ve\u0301ritable liberte\u0301 et de l\u2019inde\u0301pendance de la presse au Gabon. Le pays gagne ne\u0301anmoins 38 places en 2024 par rapport a\u0300 l\u2019anne\u0301e pre\u0301ce\u0301dente.<\/p>\n

Avec un score de 65,83, le Gabon est classe\u0301 56e sur 180 pays sur l\u2019indice de la liberte\u0301 de la presse de Reporter sans frontie\u0300res (RSF) en 2024. Le pays bondit ainsi de 38 places apre\u0300s avoir e\u0301te\u0301 classe\u0301 94e mondial l\u2019an dernier. Un regain que certains sont tente\u0301s de mettre a\u0300 l\u2019actif des militaires au pouvoir dont le chef de file, le ge\u0301ne\u0301ral Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, a promis, de\u0300s son investiture en tant que pre\u0301sident de la Transition, d\u2019aider \u00abd\u2019aider la presse a\u0300 faire son travail\u00bb, notamment en lui accordant toutes les liberte\u0301s ne\u0301cessaires.<\/p>\n

Seulement, beaucoup reste a\u0300 faire, estime RSF qui n\u2019he\u0301site pas a\u0300 pointer un doigt accusateur en direction de la Hac dont les \u00absanctions ze\u0301le\u0301es\u00bb freineraient l\u2019aboutissement du chantier lie\u0301 a\u0300 \u00abl\u2019ave\u0300nement d\u2019une presse libre et inde\u0301pendante\u00bb dans le pays. Le re\u0301gulateur des me\u0301dias est accuse\u0301 de mener \u00abune politique re\u0301pressive\u00bb faite de \u00absuspensions abusives\u00bb. Et si la Hac elle-me\u0302me \u00abmanque cruellement d\u2019inde\u0301pendance\u00bb du fait que ce soit a\u0300 nouveau le pouvoir en place qui de\u0301signe l\u2019ensemble de ses membres, l\u2019organisation indique qu\u2019il en est de me\u0302me pour les me\u0301dias, particulie\u0300rement les prive\u0301s, y compris la presse en ligne, tous confronte\u0301s a\u0300 un contexte e\u0301conomique difficile.<\/p>\n

\u00abMe\u0302me si depuis 2020, l\u2019aide a\u0300 la presse e\u0301crite est re\u0301partie de manie\u0300re plus e\u0301quitable, les journalistes restent confronte\u0301s a\u0300 de lourdes difficulte\u0301s financie\u0300res. La crise des matie\u0300res premie\u0300res de 2014 et la crise sanitaire de la Covid-19 ont provoque\u0301 la faillite de nombreux me\u0301dias. Le marche\u0301 publicitaire s\u2019est e\u0301galement re\u0301tre\u0301ci, et les annonceurs fuient les titres, stations et chai\u0302nes critiques\u00bb, e\u0301nume\u0300re RSF.<\/p>\n

Note positive: au Gabon, les arrestations arbitraires sont rares, bien que les journalistes continuent de faire l\u2019objet d\u2019intimidations, notamment au travers de convocations par des services de se\u0301curite\u0301.<\/p>\n
