Africa-Press – Gambia. Hopes of Gambia fans were yesterday shattered after the national women’s team the Queen Scorpions failed to progress to the next round of the qualifiers for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).
The match was played at the Stade El Abdi El Jadida in Morocco, where they were defeated 2-0 by Namibia during their second leg of qualifiers, which eventually led to their elimination from next year’s Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) to be held in Morocco.
The match was crucial for the Queen Scorpions after losing 3-2 in the first leg and hoping to turn the deficit in the second.
Namibia are through to the next round of qualifiers after a 5-2 aggregate win over The Gambia.
