Africa-Press – Gambia. In their quest to discourage irregular migration using the dangerous route to Europe in search for greener pasture, officers of The Gambia Police Force (GPF) have arrested 30 intended migrants.

Modou Musa Sisawo, the spokesperson GPF confirmed the development, saying: “The Police Intervention Unit’s Charlie Company arrested thirty (30) individuals, including three females and a six-month-old child, camping around the Denton Bridge ‘Kaamaalo’ on allegations of planning to embark on irregular migration.”

“In a swift response, the police arrested individuals found within the mangroves, some embarking on a boat, while others dispersed upon seeing the police.”

“In light of the above, we urge communities and individuals to come together in support of humane and regular migration solutions, ensuring the safety and rights of all people are respected.”
