Africa-Press – Gambia. One Sulayman Camara has denied obtaining D248,000 fromEbrima Jaiteh, Ebrima Jawo and Sajuka Joof on the pretext of taking them to Europe.
He appeared before Magistrate K.B Sambou of the BrikamaMagistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
According to the prosecution, Sulayman Camara sometime in 2023 and 2024, within Gunjur and its diverse places, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained D248,000.00 from the trio on the pretext of taking them to Europe through the “Backway”.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him. The prosecution, therefore, applied for adjournment to secure its witnesses and this was granted. Sulayman has been granted D300,000 court bail and must provide two sureties, who must be Gambians. The case resumes on 1 January 2024 for the hearing.
