Velmie Powers Sierra Leone’S First Digital Banking Super App, Vult, to Boost Financial Inclusion

Africa-Press – Gambia. Global banking technology firm Velmie has played a key role in the launch of Vult, Sierra Leone’s first digital banking super app, aimed at increasing access to financial services in the country.

The app is already live and gaining attention, as stated by Velmie, which collaborated with Metro Cable, a local broadband provider, to bring the project to life.

This represents a significant leap for digital finance in Sierra Leone, showcasing how scalable, API-driven technology can accelerate financial inclusion.

The launch coincides with the World Bank’s recognition of steady improvements in financial inclusion across Sub-Saharan Africa, driven by mobile money services. However, there is still progress to be made, particularly in ensuring equitable access for various groups, including women, low-income individuals, and those with limited education.

Velmie’s CEO, Slava Ivashkin, expressed pride in contributing to this transformation.

“Vult is more than just a product. It’s part of a larger mission to foster genuine, inclusive financial change,” he said.

He also emphasized how the project demonstrated the power of innovation, noting, “Collaborating with Metro Cable allowed us to combine cutting-edge technology with in-depth community insights.”

Vult integrates a variety of financial services in a single, user-friendly platform — including mobile money, card transactions, banking features, and bill payments. Powered by Velmie’s banking platform, the app was developed in less than six months.

According to the company, its modular and adaptable design enables rapid deployment and scalability for future growth.

This offers enhanced financial access to unbanked individuals while providing dependable tools for those who already use traditional banking services.

Velmie’s Chief Marketing Officer, Paul Shumsky, called the launch a major milestone for the continent. “This isn’t merely an app; it’s a robust foundation for financial empowerment in Africa,” he said.

Aminata Bangura, Vult’s head of product, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Velmie’s technology enabled us to create a solution tailored to our market, and one that’s ready for expansion. We’re proud to provide quality financial services to Sierra Leoneans, and this is just the beginning.”
