Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow has said that the oppositions with all their sweet words, lack the capacity to provide desired development projects for Gambians.
He made the statement during a meeting with the community of Jokadu, Lower Niumi, and Upper Niumi districts who were at the presidency over the weekend. President Barrow urged the people of North Bank to rally their support for him, saying that the oppositions do not have the means to improve their living standards.
He emphasises that he promises things to Gambians that he can fulfil, unlike other sets of politicians who lack the capacity to deliver on their promises.
“All of these people that are sweet-talking can’t provide you good roads or electricity. How can they provide that? They can deceive you with small boreholes and milling machines that are not durable,” he said. “They can deceive women by providing them with cooking utensils or sets of furniture just to attract their interest. President Barrow will provide you with life-changing development projects,” he remarked.
Commenting on the new “Hakalang Road”, the president said he had a very tough experience due to the poor state of the road when he once travelled through during his campaign for the presidency. According to him, henceforth he committed himself that if he became president he would develop that particular road. This has now been realised, he said.
The President asserted that if previous governments had done enough in road construction, his regime would have already found that. Barrow continued to say that his government would continue to bring life-changing development projects to the doorsteps of Gambians.
“We are currently constructing 365 km road projects across the country. Its expenditure is about D9 billion. We already planned equivalent projects towards 2026. We will inform you about all these projects in due course,” he said. President Barrow expressed appreciation to Gambians who stood by his government’s development agenda over the years for the realisation of his dreams.
