Africa-Press – Gambia. The Office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has granted permission to the activist group Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) to hold a protest on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025—subject to a set of conditions.
According to the approved permit, the following conditions must be strictly observed:
* That the protest is confined to the time scheduled given in this approved permit.
* That the protest starts from Iceman Junction (Kanifing) to the Youth Monument, Westfield.
* That only a five-man delegation is permitted to deliver the petitions to the concerned institutions.
* That the press briefing be held at the front gate of the Youth Monument opposite St. Therese’s Church.
* That the protest is confined within the limits of the law.
* That no derogatory words or remarks should be addressed to any person that will eventually result in the breach of the peace.
The police further cautioned that any violation of these conditions may result in the revocation of the protest permit and could lead to criminal prosecution.
The permit also directed the Commissioner of Police for the Kanifing Region to ensure adequate security is provided during the event.
“By a copy of this permit, CP Kanifing Region is requested to provide security for the protest,” the permit directed.
