IGP Commissions 25 Operational Vehicles to Enhance Police Mobility

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Police Force {GPF} has officially commissioned a fleet of 25 operational vehicles, comprising 12 brand -new pick-up trucks and 13 refurbished units, in a ceremony held on Thursday, July 17 2025, at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.

The initiative spearheaded by the inspector General of Police {IGP},Seedy M.Touray, underscores the Force’s continued efforts to improve law enforcement mobility and strengthen national security operations.

The newly acquired fleet includes 10 Toyota Hilux and 2Mitsubish L200 pick-ups, while the refurbished vehicles consist of a mix of Nissan Hard Body, Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger models. These vehicles have been strategically distributed to strengthen police presence across key regions

In terms of distribution, the new Toyota Hilux pick -ups have been assigned to the Serious Crime Unit {BJL1344 N}, Communication and Prosecution Unit at GPF Headquarters {GPF 6 HQ}. Brusbi Police Station {GPF5 WCR}, Banjulinding ACU {GPF 6 ACU}, Kerewan PIU [GPF 17 PIU}, Yundum Barracks PIU {GPF18 PIU}, Essau Police Station [GPF 2 NBR) Mankamang Kunda PIU {GPF 19 PU}, Brufut ACU{GPF 8 ACU},and Mobile Traffic Unit {GPF M1}.The two new Mitsubishi L 200 pick -ups were allocated to the IGP”s Utility Vehicle pool {BJL 9300 Q} and Mandinaba Police Station in the West Coast Region {GPf 7WCR},

The 13 refurbished vehicle were distributed as follows}, Banjulinding Police Station in WCR received a of Nissan Hard Body {GPF 2 WCR} Basses PIU [GPF 20 PIU}, Sare Ngain Station in URR {GPF 9 URR} and Kaur PIU {GPF21 PIU} also received refurbished Nissan and Mitsubishi vehicles.

Additional Mitsubishi L200 pick-ups, were assigned to Kwinala PIU {GPF 23 PIU}, the Commissioner office in NBR { GPF 1 NBR} Kanifing PIU[GPF 2 PIU] ,Ndungu Kebbeh Station {GPF 5 NBR}.The Amdalai Station in NBR received a refurbished Toyota Hilux {GPF 3 NBR}, while a Ford Ranger was allocated to Mansakonko PIU {GPF 22 PIU}.

The comprehensive distribution is designed to bolster the GPF presence and responsiveness across urban, rural and border communities
