Africa-Press – Gambia. Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) has expressed its gratitude to all protesters and stakeholders involved in the Wednesday demonstration, affirming that the people have made their voices heard and are now waiting for those in power to show they are paying attention.
“We have delivered our petition and now await action from the authorities and institutions concerned,” GALA declared.
“Let this moment serve as a reminder that when the people rise, change is inevitable.”
The anti-corruption group emphasized that Gambia belongs to everyone, and it is only through collective effort that the nation’s dignity can be restored and a future founded on fairness, opportunity, and accountability can be built.
GALA clarified that the protest was never intended to sow chaos but was a call for transparency, justice, and reforms amid ongoing corruption and institutional decline.
“Thank you, Gambia. Thank you, patriots. The fight continues,” the movement said in appreciation.
Special thanks were extended to the Gambia Police Force for their mature and responsible handling of the protest.
“Their decision to deploy regular traffic officers, those we see and interact with daily, rather than paramilitary units, marked a shift in how public demonstrations are managed,” GALA noted.
GALA credited this peaceful atmosphere for maintaining order and mutual respect during the protest. The organization urged the police to uphold the same level of professionalism and to continue engaging with Gambians respectfully in future interactions.
They also expressed gratitude to Gambians in the diaspora for their support, including messages, donations, media coverage, and public solidarity.
Additionally, GALA thanked the youth, students, and elderly Gambians who participated, emphasizing their role in amplifying the collective voice.
