The highly determined Foñi-based team maintained their focus and commitment as they prioritized advancing to a higher level of national football. They defeated Ali Sowe FC in a post-match penalty shootout 4-2 in Basori on Saturday.
Sibanor United won the West Coast Regional third division, while their opponents, Ali Sowe FC, were champions of the Banjul Regional third division.
With this second division qualification, Sibanor United becomes the first team from Foñi to achieve such a successful league journey.
Sibanor United also defeated Kunkujang Friends in the West Coast Regional final to be crowned champions.
Ali Sowe FC, backed by Gambian international footballer Ali Sowe, had a convincing third division campaign in Banjul, defeating Police FC 4-1 in the final before facing Sibanor United.
