BAC Chairman Calls on Gambians to Unite and Vote Barrow out

Africa-Press – Gambia. Chairman of Brikama Area Council (BAC), Yankuba Darboe has urged UDP party militants in particular and Gambians in general to unite and vote the Barrow government out of office come 2026 presidential election.

Mr. Darboe made the clarion call on Saturday during the opening ceremony of UDP’s political bureau named after Njogoi Njie in Mandinari Village. He described Barrow Government as a total misrepresentation of people’s collective interests. Mr Darboe raised concern over the severe hardships facing the country, particularly the youth whom he said were totally disregarded by the Barrow government. According to him, under Barrow’s watch, Gambian youth continue to have limited educational growth, fueling high unemployment rate and forcing many to embark on perilous journey to Europe via the “back way.”

“When Barrow was sworn into the presidency in 2017, Gambian youth were jubilant, cheering that the back way journey was coming to an end. Unfortunately, from 2017 to date, over one thousand Gambian youth have perished in the Mediterranean Sea in their quest to get to Europe,” Darboe remarked.

He continued to state that many productive sectors of the Gambian economy have collapsed thanks to the Barrow government. He said tourism sector and agriculture which were the backbone of Gambia’s economy have since collapsed.

Darboe describes the 2026 elections as “the last chance” urging Gambians to unite and vote against the government. “If after ten (10) years in power you cannot bring any meaningful change to the Gambians, it is about time you step aside,” he remarked.
