Africa-Press – Gambia. The Organising Committee of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has dismissed a protest by Ali Sowe Football Club, which alleged that Sibanor United fielded ineligible players during their second division promotion playoff last week.
“In its protest, Ali Sowe FC alleged that Omar Nyassi, Alagie Modou Jarju, Ousman Camara, and Modou Lamin Jarju weren’t eligible to represent Sibanor United in the said match. The OC deliberated the matter in its latest meeting held this week, and following thorough investigations, as well as based on the evidence provided before it, the Committee noted that the matter was an administrative error that emanated from the West Coast Regional Football Association, which led to the omission of the aforementioned quartet from the first master list. However, the second master list rectified the errors and included the players in that list,” GFF clarified.
In its recommendations, the country’s football body stated that after reviewing both master lists and several match forms from the WCR third division league, the Committee concluded that the players are legally registered players of Sibanor United.
According to GFF, based on the evidence it had reviewed, the protest by Ali Sowe FC is “dismissed, declared null and void,” and Sibanor United’s promotion to the second division has been upheld.
