Africa-Press – Gambia. Sallah’s FC delivered a convincing performance in the Gambia Football Federation Division Two League playoff on Saturday, securing maximum points and keeping their hopes alive for second division football next season.
Two first-half goals from Abie Manneh and Fatoumata Manneh proved enough as Sallah’s FC defeated Star Academy 2-1 in the promotion playoff.
Despite a late goal from Haddy Nyang deep into stoppage time for Star Academy, Sallah’s FC held on to take a significant step toward a historic qualification. The victory keeps the CRR champions firmly in contention.
The loss means Star Academy has been eliminated, having earned just one point from six possible.
Sallah’s FC now need only to avoid defeat in their final match against Ndim’s FC on Tuesday at the Soma Mini Stadium to secure the sole available promotion spot from provincial Gambia. A win for Ndim’s FC in that game would hand them qualification at Sallah’s FC’s expense.
