GRA Commissioner General Reports Record-Breaking Revenue Collection

Africa-Press – Gambia. Yankuba Darboe, Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), has announced a substantial rise in revenue collection between April and July 2025, surpassing set targets for several consecutive months.

In an interview on Coffee Time with Peter Gomez, Darboe revealed that from January to July 2025, the GRA had been tasked with collecting D13.5 billion. However, the authority exceeded expectations, amassing more than D15.6 billion—an excess of over D2.1 billion.

“The target that is set for our January to July 2025 collection is D13.5 billion but we ended up collecting over D15.6 billion, giving us an excess collection of over D2.1 billion on top of the target that is set from January to end July,” he noted.

Darboe expressed confidence that the GRA will meet its 2025 revenue target of approximately D23 billion, noting that the authority has already collected more than D15.6 billion.

“So, we are left, August to December, we are supposed to collect D7.3 billion. Now, if you divide that by five months, you are talking of a collection of about D1.4 billion, which certainly our average collection now is in billions, D2 billion every month,” he said.

Darboe credited the GRA’s performance to the authority’s ongoing digitalization and reform agenda, which he said has closed revenue leakages, strengthened transparency and accountability, and reduced human intervention in operations.

He highlighted the implementation of systems such as the ASYCUDA World platform, the Single Window system, and the e-trucking initiative as key drivers of efficiency and growth in collections.
