Africa-Press – Gambia. Essa Mbye Faal, Party Leader and Secretary General of APP-Sobeya, has alleged that President Adama Barrow once told him he intends to remain in power for 20 years.
In a video circulating online, Faal claimed the president personally made the remark during a private conversation. “He can change his mind; that is his choice, but he told me he wants to be in power for 20 years,” Faal stated.
Faal explained that although he had previously chosen to remain silent about the exchange, the current political climate compels him to speak out. “I have never come out to say Adama Barrow told me this or that, but it is time to speak up,” he declared.
The revelation comes as The Gambia prepares for a crucial presidential election in 2026. With campaigns already intensifying, the ruling party and opposition figures alike are positioning themselves early in the race for the country’s top office.
