Africa-Press – Gambia. A Switzerland-based Gambian national and former soldier, Abdoulie Sanyang, was arrested on Sunday at Banjul International Airport following comments he made during a radio interview that authorities say carry “significant national security implications.”
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, the government confirmed that Sanyang’s arrest was linked to remarks he made on the popular program Coffee Time with Peter Gomez, broadcast on West Coast Radio on Thursday, 14 August 2025.“Mr. Sanyang is currently in custody at the Brusubi Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as investigations continue,” the release noted.
While the government emphasized the seriousness of Sanyang’s statements, the press release did not specify which particular comments prompted his arrest.
