Africa-Press – Gambia. A new opinion survey sanctioned by Gambia Participates and conducted by Cepress has shed light on the potential outcome of The Gambia’s 2026 presidential election. The findings, released today, place incumbent President Adama Barrow ahead with 31% support among respondents.
Trailing behind is Talib Ahmed Bensouda, Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, who secured 18%, followed by veteran opposition leader ANM Ousainu Darboe with 12%. Former Truth Commission lead counsel Essa Mbye Faal registered 3%, while other potential candidates collectively garnered another 3%.
Notably, a significant 29% of respondents remain undecided, highlighting the fluidity of voter sentiment as the country edges closer to the 2026 polls.
The results underscore both the incumbent’s current advantage and the growing influence of emerging political figures, while also signaling a potentially competitive race should the undecided bloc consolidate behind an alternative candidate.
