Barrow Assures Hajj Commission of Government Support

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambian President, His Excellency President Adama Barrow yesterday received the leadership of the National Hajj Commission at the State House in Banjul, sources revealed Thursday.

The President congratulated the members of the National Hajj Commission for working diligently on the welfare of Gambian pilgrims throughout the Hajj process.

According to the State House sources, as the Saudi regulations on Hajj are evolving, President Barrow encouraged The Hajj commission to adapt to ensure better participation of Gambians in the spiritual journey. He assured them of continuous Government support in reforming Hajj operations and keeping this essential service affordable to Gambians.

Speaking on behalf of the Commission, Amirul Hajj Sheikh Imam Ebrima Jarju thanked President Barrow for granting them an audience. Sheikh Jarju briefed the President on the previous pilgrimage to Mecca, challenges encountered and the on-going preparations for the forthcoming Hajj season.

He expressed gratitude to The Gambia Government for the good working relationship through the Ministries of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs and Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, as well as The Gambia International Airlines and others.
