Daru United Sanchaba Youths Share Spoils in Brikama Clash

Africa-Press – Gambia. Daru United and Sanchaba Youths played to a 1-1 draw in their second match of the Sports Committee (BSC) Summer Nawettan on Monday afternoon at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium.

The match began with intensity as Lamin Camara gave Sanchaba Youths an early lead in the 14th minute. However, Daru United responded in the second half through Lamin Kassama, who found the equaliser to secure a point for his team.

The result gave Daru United their first point of the tournament, following a 2-1 defeat to Makasutu in their opening fixture. For Sanchaba Youths, the draw marked a positive start to their campaign, as it was their first match of the Nawettan.

In the evening fixture, Senior Players and Amasa FC were locked at 1-1 when the match was abandoned due to darkness, following a power outage that left the floodlights at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium non-functional.

Senior Players took an early lead just three minutes into the game, courtesy of a strike from Saikou Jawneh. But Amasa FC levelled in the 27th minute through a well-taken goal by Abdou Karim Bojang.

Match officials were forced to halt proceedings in the second half as visibility became poor, and the game will likely be rescheduled.

The Brikama Nawettan continues to draw crowds with intense competition and local pride on the line as teams battle for dominance in one of the region’s most anticipated grassroots tournaments.
