Africa-Press – Gambia. As part of the Intercultural Week scheduled for September 20 to October 5, 2025, in Konstanz, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, Stabsstelle International Konstanz City, Konstanz Intercultural Arts Collective (KIAC), and Openplace Kreuzlingen will unveil the ‘Humans Beyond Borders’ event in collaboration with the Evangelical Church, Kreuzlingen in Switzerland.

The event is set to take place on October 4 at Kunstgrenze Am.

This unique event will bring together refugees, immigrants, and locals from Konstanz and Kreuzlingen, fostering an atmosphere of sharing food, conversation, and connection while overcoming national boundaries. “We believe that physical borders should not prevent human relationships or creative potential,” said a representative from the organizing team.

Participants can expect a collective artistic experience featuring music, poetry, and intercultural connections. The performances will be open to everyone, inviting direct participation or passive observation.

Refugees, residents, cultural practitioners, institutions, and others are encouraged to attend this gathering at the border. “This event is an opportunity to come together in a spirit of openness and collaboration,” an organizer noted.

The program will showcase artistic performances, including music, spoken word, and live art. Attendees will also enjoy poetry and storytelling, presenting diverse voices sharing both personal and collective experiences. Additionally, shared food and conversation will create a space for dialogue, exchange, and intercultural understanding.

The organizers of ‘Humans Beyond Borders’ emphasize values of intercultural dialogue, solidarity, and collaboration. They aim to unite a diverse range of stakeholders: local citizens, refugee communities, faith groups, cultural organizations, educational institutions, and policymakers. Through art and exchange, the initiative seeks to strengthen mutual understanding and foster a culture of peace and inclusivity in the region.

All members of the public, partner organizations, and the press are warmly invited to join the celebration at Kunstgrenze, embracing community across borders.

Sam Melser, a New Zealand artist and teacher at Kunstschule Konstanz, remarked, “Art and cultural practice can be powerful tools for integration and fostering a sense of belonging. Creative exchange and dialogue are essential for building new relationships and reducing prejudice and intolerance.”
