Africa-Press – Gambia. Reports reaching Kerr Fatou indicate that tensions flared in Jabang on Thursday afternoon, where a group of youths reportedly took to the streets in protest.

According to Paradise TV, the situation escalated as demonstrators burned tires and blocked traffic, disrupting movement in and around the community.

Police units, including the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) and the Anti-Crime Unit, were swiftly deployed to the area in an effort to disperse the crowd and restore calm.

“Reports indicate that youths in Jabang have taken to the streets, burning tires and blocking traffic. Police, the PIU, and the Anti-Crime Unit are on the ground working to restore order.” Paradise TV Gambia reports.

At the time of reporting, details about the cause of the unrest remain unclear, and it is not immediately known if there were any arrests or injuries.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
