Africa-Press – Gambia. Alieu Krubally, an 18-year-old Gambian, and adult Gambian Buba Jaiteh appeared before Magistrate M. Dem at Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 29th September, facing charges of possession of prohibited drugs, contrary to Section 35(2)(a) of the Drug Control Act 2014, as amended.

Sanna Camara represented the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEA), while both accused persons appeared in court without legal representation.

According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly had in their possession 82 grams of Cannabis Sativa on or about 18th September 2025 at Gunjur, West Coast Region. The charge was read to the accused in English and interpreted into Mandinka, their language of choice. Both pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting officer S. Camara requested an adjournment to secure the presence of a witness. He did not oppose bail for the first accused, Alieu Krubally, but opposed bail for Buba Jaiteh, citing a previous matter at Bakau Police Station where Jaiteh had been granted bail but failed to report back.

Camara further stated that Krubally was arrested with 42 wraps of Cannabis, which he admitted were given to him by Jaiteh. The prosecution requested permission to escort Krubally to Jaiteh’s residence, leading to Jaiteh’s subsequent arrest.

In response, the second accused explained, “I was given bail; I was going and coming, but when I fell sick, I stopped going.”

The court adjourned the case to Monday, 20th October 2025, at 11:00 am, stating that it would rule on the bail applications on that date.
