Africa-Press – Gambia. The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) has cautioned schools against the practice of withholding students’ results from the Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE) over unpaid fees, describing it as “entirely unacceptable.”
In a statement, the ministry emphasized that all schools must release students’ results promptly and unconditionally.
“All school authorities are hereby strictly instructed to immediately refrain from withholding the GABECE results on account of unpaid study fees,” MoBSE said.
The ministry further warned that failure to comply with the directive will attract disciplinary measures, including administrative sanctions against school heads.
Reaffirming its stance, MoBSE said it remains committed to ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability across the education sector. “The Ministry remains committed to upholding fairness and transparency in the education sector.”
