Africa-Press – Gambia. The National People’s Party (NPP) has raised more than D24 million (€285,640) at a major fundraising event held on Saturday in Spain, as part of efforts to bolster its campaign machinery ahead of the 2026 presidential election.
The high-profile event drew several senior government and party officials, including Demba Sabally, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock and NPP First Vice President; Suku Singhateh, Second Vice President of NPP; Musa Drammeh, Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources and NPP National Treasurer; and Seedy S.K. Njie, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and NPP Deputy Spokesperson, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Maimuna Ceesay, NPP Diaspora Secretary, emphasized the importance of unity, strategic financial support, and proactive engagement within the party ranks.
“The opposition is organizing, they are vocal, they are determined but so are we. We have the record, the leadership, and the people.” Ms. Ceesay declared.
She urged party members and supporters to go beyond symbolic gestures and contribute meaningfully to the party’s cause, noting that every contribution—big or small—plays a role in shaping The Gambia’s future.
Ms. Ceesay further encouraged members to use their voices and online platforms to counter misinformation and highlight the achievements of the NPP government. She also called on them to expand the party’s base by inviting friends and networks to join the NPP.
“ Let us all stay united, let’s stay focused, let’s stay proud as members of the national peoples’ party. Together we shall build The Gambia we all deserve,” she concluded.
