Madi M.K. Ceesay Unveils Three New Books

Africa-Press – Gambia. Hon. Madi M.K. Ceesay, National Assembly Member for Serekunda West, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, launched three new books at the Kanifing Municipal Library, marking another milestone in his growing literary journey.

The new titles—The Fundamentals of Journalism, Betrayals, and Talib Ahmed Bensouda: A Man of Vision—capture Hon. Ceesay’s deep engagement with journalism, politics, and leadership. Together, they reflect his lifelong dedication to knowledge-sharing and nation-building.

In his address, Hon. Ceesay expressed gratitude to the audience for their encouragement and support. He recalled that his writing journey began earlier this year with the publication of his first set of books in February 2025. Since then, he said, his passion for writing has only intensified, motivating him to continue documenting his experiences and perspectives.

Veteran politician, academic, and writer Sidia Jatta commended Hon. Ceesay for his contributions to public discourse and intellectual development. However, he urged Gambian writers to produce works in their native languages, stressing that the true essence of Gambian literature lies in the languages that people speak, live, and dream in.

“Madi has made tremendous efforts in every domain of intellection, not only to promote knowledge but to create it,” he said.

The event also featured the formal launching of the three books by Kebba Ansu Manneh, Demba Ali Jawo, and Nenneh Freda Gomez, each of whom praised Hon. Ceesay’s enduring influence on journalism, governance, and civic enlightenment in The Gambia.

Before entering politics, Hon. Ceesay had a distinguished career in journalism, serving as president of the Gambia Press Union (GPU). Today, as the representative of Serekunda West in the National Assembly, he continues to champion democracy, press freedom, and accountable governance.
