Africa-Press – Gambia. Basketball star Yassin Jaal Mboob has been confirmed as one of 15 eligible candidates representing their respective National Organising Committees in the upcoming Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA) Athletes Commission Elections.
The electoral process will take place on November 6 at the Chief De Mission Meeting Hall in the Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 Athletes’ Village in Riyadh.
Mboob brings considerable experience to her candidacy. The former Gambian National 3×3 basketball team member represented The Gambia at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey, as part of the women’s 3×3 basketball squad.
Her leadership credentials in sports administration are equally impressive. In April 2025, she was elected Assistant Secretary-General of the Gambia Basketball Association. She has also served as a FIBA 3×3 National Coordinator, playing an active role in promoting basketball development across The Gambia.
Currently, Mboob holds the position of Secretary General of the Gambia National Olympic Committee Athletes Commission, further demonstrating her commitment to athlete representation and sports governance.
