Africa-Press – Gambia. The West Coast Region Zonal Football Championship is set to begin on Sunday, with Foni facing Brufut in the highly anticipated Super Cup final at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium.
Last season, the two teams clashed in the final across two fixtures after the initial match ended in a 2-2 draw. Foni won the return fixture 2-1, claiming the championship title.
Sunday’s Super Cup offers contrasting narratives: Foni will aim for a repeat victory, while Brufut will be seeking revenge against last season’s champions.
This year’s 15-team tournament is sponsored by the Brikama Area Council (BAC), which has contributed D500,000 to the competition and provided jerseys for all participating teams.
The championship is expected to showcase intense rivalry, with teams from across the West Coast Region competing for the title.
