Africa-Press – Gambia. Wingu Africa, a leading developer of carrier-neutral Tier III data centres in East Africa, has entered into a strategic partnership with Africa Data Centres (ADC), the continent’s largest interconnected data centre network. This collaboration integrates Wingu Africa’s data centre facilities in Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Tanzania with ADC’s extensive presence across South, West, and Central Africa, creating a robust platform that enhances regional digital connectivity and capacity.
The partnership brings significant benefits to both organisations, while offering a unified digital ecosystem for enterprises, hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and content networks operating across Africa. By interconnecting their platforms, Wingu Africa and ADC enable customers to scale securely, reliably, and efficiently across several of Africa’s most strategically important markets—eliminating the challenges of managing multiple providers and infrastructure silos.
For Wingu Africa, this collaboration marks a major shift from being a regional specialist to becoming a continental player. The deal extends their service reach into seven additional African markets through ADC’s expansive infrastructure, simplifying geographic expansion for clients and opening new business opportunities. ADC, on the other hand, deepens its footprint in East Africa, gaining seamless access to three high-growth markets: Djibouti, a key global subsea cable hub; Ethiopia, which is undergoing a rapid digital transformation; and Tanzania, one of the fastest-growing cloud and mobile services markets in the region.
“This partnership represents a significant milestone for both Wingu Africa and the broader East African digital ecosystem,” said Demos Kyriacou, Deputy CEO, COO, and Co-Founder of Wingu Africa. “By connecting our infrastructure with Africa Data Centres’ vast network, we are enabling businesses to operate seamlessly across borders with the reliability and resilience they expect. This collaboration is about making Africa’s digital economy more accessible, predictable, and globally competitive.”
Adil El Youssefi, CEO of Africa Data Centres, shared his thoughts: “Africa’s digital transformation is driven by collaboration and scalability. Partnering with Wingu Africa enables us to expand our reach into the rapidly growing East African markets, providing ADC customers with a stronger gateway into the region. Together, we are building an interconnected platform that fosters innovation, investment, and inclusive growth.”
Beyond the commercial advantages, this partnership strengthens both national and continental digital strategies, supporting the growth of cloud services, fintech, and technology-driven innovation. It aligns with the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy (2020–2030), helping to position Africa as a competitive player in the global digital economy by providing scalable, secure, and inclusive digital infrastructure that benefits all.
